Kash Top 30 List: Favourite Pokemon

Since I'm turning 30 this year, I thought why not create a few Top 30 lists of things that I like or have done so I've done a few list that covers my interest in just about anything, be it Motorsports, Pokemon, Wrestling, Gaming and also some general things. Those of you reading this know me from playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game, be it in real life or online but whatever the case is, it's still. something to do with Pokemon.

So I thought, why not try to list down my 30 favourite Pokemon of all time? Sounds easy? Not really as I had to cut some that I did like for others that I liked a bit more. Some were influenced from my time playing the video game since the start of my journey back in 2001, some were influenced from me playing the Trading Card Game and some I just liked from watching the anime. So here are my 30 favourite Pokemon of all time.

#30 Toxtricity

IT'S A FREAKING ROCK STAR!!!

#29 Lucario

Someone who is a living breathing street fighter in Pokemon? I don't know why but I always gravitated to Lucario and kept using it in the video games and also in the TCG when Lucario-GX first showed up.

#28 Magneton

Ok I know, this is a weird one but when I was playing the game in the early years, for some reason Magneton always found a way into my team. Also helped that I kept getting it in the TCG and back then, it was always a rare card.

#27 Charmeleon

It's no Charmander or Charizard but hey, it's still here! Probably in my team more times than most anyway.

#26 Gardevoir

For whatever reason, I would keep catching Ralts in the games when it was in those games and Gardevoir would be one of my go-to peeps. Also had an awesome card (Gardevoir-GX) back in 2018.

#25 Rowlet

I usually pick the fire starters but in Gen 7, I went with a Grass boy for once. I don't know why but I instantly took a liking to Rowlet. Silly derpy Owl haha. It's one of the few Pokemon I have a plushie of.

#24 Kyogre

Kyogre, like Rowlet, is one of the few I have a plushie off. Sapphire was one of my first games so I'll always take a liking to Kyogre.

#23 Gyarados

Gyarados, mostly in it's shiny variant, always seem to find a way into my team in the video games. I don't know why but hey who isn't afraid of this giant fish?

#22 Ninetales

I have taken a liking to Vulpix as the years go by (especially the Alolan one) so of course I would end up liking Ninetales too. It does have one of my favourite TCG cards of all time as well!

#21 Kabutops

Of the original fossils, I always liked Kabutops more for some reason. But it's also the first rare card I ever pulled with Shiny Kabutops so it'll aways be one I like.

#20 Centiskorch

I mean, this one is probably the newest addition to my list. Mainly liked it for how well it's served me in the TCG, giving me many big online wins, to the point people started to notice and know about me. I even got a mention on the official Pokemon website thanks to the Centiskorch VMAX deck!

#19 Ultra Necrozma

I don't know why but I liked Necrozma in the last gen and took a liking to it, it was the misunderstood legend. And then THIS showed up! Also one of my favourite cards in the TCG, and the first one to give me a big result.

#18 Dragonair

For whatever reason I always liked Dragonair more than Dragonite, it just looked way better. Plus it's a snake, I was born in the year of the snake, need I say more?

#17 Noivern

It took me ages to get Noivern in my games but once I did, it was always one of my best attackers. Liked it so much it would show up in my team for the next two games! Also was the first foil card I got when I got back into the game since I bought the Noivern theme deck!

#16 Bisharp

Another one who keep showing up in my teams for the video games and it keeps kicking asses so of course I grew fond for Bisharp. Every time I get the chance to add it, I pretty much do.

#15 Steelix

Onix was cool when I first started playing. And then Steelix showed up in the next game and it was bad ass. Plus, it's another snake!

#14 Mewtwo

The OG Legend and Badass. Plus it was the first holo card I got from my first ever theme deck so there will always be a natural affinity towards Mewtwo.

#13 Yveltal

Another one who I liked in both the video games and the TCG, it was the first good deck I ever got and hey, it's got one bad ass gimmick as the "eater of souls".

#12 Giratina

I never got Diamond or Pearl but Platinum was my game and it's still one of my favourites from the series. I was always intrigued about Giratina and it's Distortion World and it became one of my favourites.

#11 Kadabra

Kadabra was THE man in my team in my Crystal game, always the one to get me the most important kills. Everytime I end up replaying Crystal, Kadabra always shows up in the team. I never did trade it and didn't need to in the end.

#10 Metagross

I don't ever use the pseudo-legendary but Metagross is easily one of my favourites, it keeps showing back up in my team. It's also the first deck to get me a local league win (Metagross-GX).

#9 Scizor

I don't know why but I always liked Scizor. Scyther was already cool looking and then this guy showed up. It's also one of the few natural shinnies I have in my video games.

#8 Lapras

One of the OGs and I always liked it from the first few games. The surfing buddy for all of us early on. Anytime I had the chance to train it, I would. I was pretty happy to see it being the mascot for Pokemon Center Singapore too, perfect choice!

#7 Victini

It all started from one random coin I got from a blister pack. I liked the coin and kept it around as my good luck charm. I still have that Victini coin with me even though the colours are starting to fade away. Plus Victini did give me one of my favourite cards of all time (Victini Prism Star).

#6 Suicune

The mascot for the first video game I ever got. So naturally I always liked Suicune from then on, it's still easily my favourite legendary of all time. Always good memories seeing it and being reminded of the countless of hours playing Pokemon Crystal.

#5 Crobat

It all started from one random encounter with a level 10 Golbat and me thinking, let me train this dude, why the heck not. Crobat ended up being the VIP of my team and for the next few games, I always made it a point to catch a Zubat just to train it up to be a Crobat. It's still in most of my teams.

#4 Gengar

I always liked the Ghosty gang! No matter which game it was, I always found myself catching a Gastly, get it into a Haunter and wreck house with Gengar. That's been the case for 20 years now.

#3 Charizard

My boy! Charizard was always my go-to attacker in the early days of playing the game so of course it became my favourite. Till this day, I must always have a Charizard in any of my games, no matter what. It's also part of two of my favourite decks of all time (Reshiram & Charizard-GX and Charizard TEU).

#2 Hitmonlee

I know what you're thinking. Hitmonlee??? Yes, it was always one of my favourites right from the 1st game. It's kicks reminded me of watching wrestling so I took a liking to it right away and it's been one of my favourite pokemon of all time. It may be the only Pokemon where I have every single English TCG card released in my collection. It'll always have a spot in my teams as well.

#1 Charmander

If you know me, you knew it had to be Charmander. My first partner, my favourite partner, my best partner. It was my favourite when I was 10 years old first playing Red on my cousin's PC and then on my Gameboy, and it's still my favourite as I'm about to turn 31 years old. The anime pretty much sealed it for me, I knew that was my favourite Pokemon. It'll always be my mascot. I'm pretty sure I have more than 7 Charmander plushies in my house as well. Even if I stop liking Pokemon one day, I'll never stop being a Charmander fan.

Hope you have a great day and thank you for reading!
