Who did well in the Sun & Moon to Team Up format?

We are now into the first week of the new Unbroken Bonds set being legal with a few events already happening and a few new decks performing well. In the meantime, I'd like to give a short look back on how some decks did in the previous format from SUM to TEU. I had been collecting some stats from the first week it was legal all the way up to last week. Decks shown will be ranked according to the amount of CPs they scored (of which is subjective, as I could not possibly track down every CP points scored, but most results are from events recorded in PokeStats). Hope someone might find this useful.

A week after release, Unbroken Bonds card prices

It's been a week since the release of the new Unbroken Bonds set and it's that time where now everyone is starting to figure out what decks they will want to focus on which means, buying those specific cards. Some of them have risen in price while a few others have dropped. This is just a small bit to show some changes that happened in the first week. I will try to cover more cards for the second week, which is also the week where the set is legal for competition.

Reshiram & Charizard-GX
Set: Unbroken Bonds
US Price last week: $32.99
US Price this week: $46.99
% of Price Change: 42% Increase

An interesting note as well, ReshiZard was priced at $40.99 just a day prior, so it's increased $6 in just one day. It has shown that it will likely become the best deck in the format once the set is legal so those who got their ReshiZards when it first came out, they might have saved themselves a lot of money as the price might not drop for a while, as the box special will only be release in August. Only then the price may drop as it did for Pikachu & Zekrom-GX.

Dedenne-GX
Set: Unbroken Bonds
US Price last week: $30.99
US Price this week: $26.99
% of Price Change: 13% Decrease

Within the space of one week, Dedenne-GX went from being just $2 off the price of ReshiZard to now a full $20 off the price of that! Don't expect the price to be this low, it will only get bigger once the results from the first few Unbroken Bonds games are out so now might be the best time to get these little friends.

Jirachi
Set: Team Up
US Price last week: $15.99
US Price this week: $17.99
% of Price Change: 13% Increase

Still the most expensive non-GX Pokemon card, Jirachi's price is not as bad as when Team Up cards were in their first competitive week, which saw it going for as high as $30 at one point. A better alternative to Tapu Lele-GX at times, the small increase in price won't be that painful for anyone still thinking of getting it, even though you should already have this.

Tapu Lele-GX
Set: Guardians Rising
US Price last week: $15.48
US Price this week: $12.99
% of Price Change: 16% Decrease

The formerly most expensive card not named Charizard in the game keeps getting cheaper, $13 might be the cheapest Tapu Lele-GX has ever been and with the rise of Dedenne-GX and the fact that Tapu Lele-GX is rotating in 3 months time, it will only get cheaper.

Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX
Set: Unbroken Bonds
US Price last week: $9.99
US Price this week: $11.99
% of Price Change: 20% Increase

GardeSylv might be a sleeper pick going into the next format and with it being one of the only few GXes to see a slight increase in price, that might show were others are putting their faith for the upcoming set. On a side note, a GardeSylv deck did go 3-0 in our first local games to include Unbroken Bonds cards.

Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX
Set: Unbroken Bonds
US Price last week: $9.99
US Price this week: $5.49
% of Price Change: 45% Decrease

While GardeSylv may have seen an increase in hype and thus it's price, the opposite has happened fir BuzzMosa. The fire hype doesn't help it and now it's gone down to almost half the price of what it was when it was first released. Might be a good time to get this for any Buzzwole faithfuls.

Blacephalon
Set: Unbroken Bonds
US Price last week: $4.49
US Price this week: $2.69
% of Price Change: 40% Decrease

Another card that saw a big drop in price, Blacephalon at least is still being hyped as one of the better decks coming out of Unbroken Bonds so if anything, this is surely the best time to get these Blowns as I'm expecting them to do well in the first few tournaments while everyone tires to figure out what the meta might do.

And just for the hell of it.

Reshiram & Charizard-GX (Secret Rare)
Set: Unbroken Bonds
US Price last week: $199.99
US Price this week: $399.98
% of Price Change: 100% Increase

Yup.

Unbroken Bonds decks and how much they cost to build

Unbroken Bonds (SM10) is finally here! So I've done some research into what new decks we might see in the next few weeks and also looked into the prices of these cards to help you out decide what decks you might want to go for or what to avoid for the time being. I am still in the middle of my exam period so I couldn't take much time to work on this so this is all I have to work with for now.

It might be especially useful to some of you ,especially those of you in the South East Asia region as the Singapore SPE is the week after the set is legal for competitive play, so you might want to look around to get the cards for the deck you need for the next few months or the upcoming SPE.

For each of the decks that are displayed, I'll share the link to the deck profile video from some of the top deck builders on YouTube who have shared their ideas for SM10. I don't have the time to look around for more stuff so for now I'll just share these 12 decks. Prices are taken from Troll and Toad as per usual and the price is of release date (May 3rd 2019).

Link to deck profiles are on the names of each decks. Some of them were just initial ideas but the main reason for sharing them is to give you guys a rough idea on where to start with your own possible ideas for a certain deck.

Also you might have noticed why 12 decks? Just to give a split of GX attackers and non-GX and I just could not narrow it down to 10. First six decks profiled are decks with GX attackers (be it Tag Team or normal GXes) and the last six decks profiled features mainly non-GX attackers.

At the very end I'll do a comparison of all the prices for each decks and how much the upcoming rotation will hit these decks. Also for rotation, cards from the same evolution line won't be counted if one was rotating and the other isn't.

Total Cost for each deck:
  1. Reshiram & Charizard-GX - $240.24
  2. Porygon-Z/Tag Teams - $147.12
  3. Greninja & Zoroark-GX - $146.16
  4. Zoroark-GX/Dewgong - $138.05
  5. Blacephalon - $134.84
  6. Honchkrow-GX/Mismagius - $123.52
  7. Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee - $111.10
  8. Buzzwole & Pheromosa-GX - $110.21
  9. Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX - $93.31
  10. Spiritomb/Stunfisk - $93.15
  11. Vikavolt/Meganium - $83.25
  12. Weezing/Tapu Koko - $79.04

Deck Least/Most affected by 2019-2020 Rotation
  1. Blacephalon - 13.33%
  2. Porygon-Z/Tag Teams - 18.33%
  3. Buzzwole & Pheromosa-GX - 20%
  4. Vikavolt/Meganium - 23.33%
  5. Reshiram & Charizard-GX - 25%
  6. Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX - 25%
  7. Greninja & Zoroark-GX - 25%
  8. Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee - 30%
  9. Honchkrow-GX/Mismagius - 31.67%
  10. Weezing/Tapu Koko - 31.67%
  11. Spiritomb/Stunfisk - 36.67%
  12. Zoroark-GX/Dewgong - 55%

No surprised that Reshiram & Charizard-GX is the most expensive deck on this list, even just it's Pokemon line is more expensive than the Porygon-Z deck, aka the 2nd most expensive deck on the list! It's also worth to note that more than half the decks have their total Trainers count costing more than $50, if there was any proof how vital these cards have always been to the game.

The decks that are most hit by rotation tend to rely heavily on stuff like Double Colourless Energy and heavy counts on Ultra or Nest Balls so the newer decks like Blacephalon and BuzzMosa will have no trouble adapting the upcoming changes being a turbo style deck. Also a lot of these decks aren't running Dedenne-GX, which is one of the reasons why the Greninja & Zoroark-GX deck is so highly prices in this list, it's almost as expensive as the Charizard & Reshiram-GX card so you'll want to get them as soon as possible.

I hope this can be of any help to anyone still deciding on what decks to build for SM10 and perhaps beyond that as well. If you want more deck profiles, may I suggest Omnipoke and Rare Candy on YouTuber, there is a reason why I featured their lists more than once compared to the others.
